Arooo! It’s the Wolf Moon

It’s January and the witches are celebrating the Wolf Moon, the first full moon after winter starts. There are lots of names for this month’s moon, but of course, because of my love for wolf shifters, I’m using Wolf Moon for January 2023. Why is it called that? Well, it’s because you can hear wolves howling more this month. At least that’s the story. And we love stories, especially wolf stories.

As the witches gather to celebrate this moon it’s the first one of the days growing longer. For me, it’s the time I celebrate where I’m going. In December, during the Cold Moon, I closed the year down. That’s the time to say goodbye to the year, let all the stuff we went through go. For me, 2022 was a year of waiting, so I’m super stoked to get ready for a year of living! I’ve cleansed my house and my ritual tools, and on the actual day of the full moon (Friday, the 6th), I’m getting my hair cut and doing my New Year’s Ritual.

I’m editing my Paranormal Women’s Fiction, Mercury Rising, otherwise known as PWF. In this book Mercury discovers her witchy powers, and hints about her mysterious past. Mercury is going to have to figure out all the full-moon magic and witchy rituals, especially because on the island with her is the sexy grounds-keeper, Cormac MacDouglas. And guess what?

Another super cool thing about 2023’s Wolf Moon is that it’s a micro-moon. What’s a micro-moon? It’s the opposite of a super-moon. It means its the farthest away from the earth that the moon get’s as it follows it’s elliptical orbit. I kind of feel that for my witchy spells this year it means that we’re swinging around the bend and heading into a brand new orbit. A brand new year. Yes, this is the year of change and it’s starting with magic, mystery, and Mercury Rising.
